Obituary

Gerald Bennett Goldman died July 16 at age 89 in Ohio with family at his side. He and wife, Anna Rose (Asimow), lived in Gary, Miller Beach, and Munster. As a life-long entrepreneur, he co-founded Crown Shoes, a chain of 65 stores in the Midwest, and later in his career operated shoe and liquor stores in Gary. An expert gin rummy and bridge player, he also was Treasurer of Temple Israel in Miller Beach. A degree from Indiana University, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, led to U.S. Army finance duties during the Korean War. He is survived by sons Steven and Michael, their spouses and children. Great-grandchildren were a delight as he shared his wisdom and love with a new generation.
