Obituary

Bessie 'Geneva' Runyon (nee Taylor), age 82, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Hospice of Cincinnati-Blue Ash, OH. Geneva developed complications from a fall she had on Thanksgiving Day. She was born in Red Ash, KY on September 25, 1924 as the 10th of 11 children, to John Lenz and Sallie Jane (Gilreath) Taylor. On June 12, 1948 she was married at the First Methodist Church of Williamsburg, KY to William Robert 'Bob' Runyon. Fifty six years ago they moved to Ohio where they had remained. Geneva had been a stay at home Mother, driving the girls and half of the neighborhood to music lessons, band and choir practices, Rainbow Girls meetings, and Youth Fellowship. She held the volunteer positions of treasurer of Hunter Community United Methodist Church and the Franklin High School Band Parents for many, many years. After the girls were grown, Geneva went back to work as a Claims Examiner for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services. Following their retirement the Runyon's moved to Loveland, OH. Preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 1997, Geneva is survived by her two daughters, Susan Gail Runyon Little of West Chester, OH and Debra Ann Runyon Colwell of Loveland, OH; sons-in-law, Marty Spicer and Chris Colwell, Sr.; grandsons, Nate Little of Deer Park, and Christopher Colwell, Jr of Loveland; and granddaughters Veronica Colwell of Loveland and Mindy Spicer of Carlisle, OH; sisters Edna White of Florence, KY and Nora Dee Roberts of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law D. Ralph Runyon and wife Lois of Goose Creek, S. Carolina and sister-in-law Shirley Fry and husband, Tom, also of Goose Creek; Ethyl Taylor of Clinton, TN; aunts Sara Hall and Cora Henderson of West Carrollton, OH; plus many beloved nieces & nephews. The family requests memorial donations in memory of Geneva be directed to the Loveland United Methosist Church, 10975 Lebanon Road Loveland, Ohio 45140.
