IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gene
Wood
July 1, 1932 – December 7, 2025
With profound love and heavy hearts, the family of Eugene Wood announces his peaceful passing at the age of 93. Born on July 1, 1932, Gene was the devoted son of Ollie and Alberta Orme Wood. Gene was a man whose quiet strength, generous spirit, and steady presence shaped the lives of all who knew him.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Faye Mullikin Wood, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Elmo Wood, and his sister Elizabeth O'Cull, daughter-in law Phyllis Wood, all of whom he held close in memory and heart.
He is survived by longtime Special Friend, Mildred Rineair, also two loving sons: Daniel Eugene Wood and wife Ann Wood, and Joseph Gale Wood and his Lifelong Companion, Velinda Allen.
Gene's legacy continues through his grandchildren—William Wood, Dusty Nye, Brian Philpot, Brandon Philpot, Joseph Cunningham, Katherine Bailey, and Rikki Hardoerfer—along with his many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In his early twenties, Gene began what would become a long and dedicated career at Cincinnati Milacron, where he worked faithfully until retirement. He carried with him a strong work ethic, humility, and the kind of reliability that colleagues admired and respected.
In his retirement, Gene embraced the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. He enjoyed woodworking, shaping raw material into something sturdy and beautiful—much like he did with the lives around him. He loved the excitement of horse races, and he found joy and good company playing poker at the casino, sharing stories, laughs, and the thrill of the game.
Above all, Gene leaves behind a legacy of family, resilience, humor, and warmth. He will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, worked hard, and found contentment in everyday life. His presence will be profoundly missed but forever cherished.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Gene is reunited with his wife, his siblings, and all those who went before him. His story lives on in every heart he touched.
May he rest in peaceful reunion and eternal love.
