IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gene W.
Holbert
August 8, 1948 – April 19, 2025
Gene W. Holbert of Loveland, Ohio. Beloved husband of Teresa (nee Malloy) Holbert. Loving father of Tim (Nancy) Holbert and Beth (Scott) Celek. Cherished grandfather of Lily. Dear brother of Ann Holbert and David (Noreen) Holbert. Passed away April 19, 2025, at the age of 76.
A native of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, Gene was a proud chemist having worked for the Food & Drug Administration for many years. Prior to his career with the FDA, he earned his PhD in Chemistry at Cornell University, followed by a long tenure with Merrill Dow Pharmaceuticals. His first love, however, was his time as an undergraduate at Penn State University, performing with the Nittany Lions famed Blue Band at the 1968 Orange Bowl. For every Penn State win – especially over Ohio State – he took pleasure in blasting the Penn State fight song loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear, blowing out at least a few speakers along the way. After graduating from Penn State, he served with the United States Army for three years, stationed in Germany.
He was a good man, and a good dad, and if there's space for anyone upstairs, he should be the first to get in.
