IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary John
Harvey
September 28, 1947 – December 10, 2025
Gary John Harvey, Sr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully, and went home to be with the Lord, on December 10, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on September 28, 1947, to the late Raymond and Betty (née Schaefer) Harvey.
Gary was the loving husband of Maricela Paulina Harvey. He was the devoted father of Gary John (Tracey) Harvey Jr., Jackson Curtis (NiHee) Harvey, and Joseph Jacob John (Amy) Harvey. Gary was the cherished grandfather of George Fredrick Harvey, Lillian Eleanor Harvey, Julia Nicole Harvey, Cara Marie Robertson, Elijah James Harvey, and Silas John Harvey, and the proud great-grandfather of DJ Rudolph. He was the dear brother of James "Jim" Raymond (Alvina) Harvey, Peggy Ann (Mel) Heis, Timothy "Tim" Edward (Maribeth) Harvey, and the late Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Brading. He is also survived by brother-in-law Steve Brading and numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Throughout his life, Gary embraced many paths. He worked as proprietor of Early Hour Donuts in Bethel; an aerospace engineer at Lockheed Martin; a taxi driver in Atlanta; a heating and air technician at the Fifth Third building in downtown Cincinnati; an English instructor at the University of Guadalajara; and a salesman at both Home Depot and Lowe's—among many other endeavors. Gary simply loved to work and took pride in every job he held.
He was a diehard Cincinnati Reds fan who knew the team and its rich history as well as the back of his hand. He loved music and prided himself in giving the most succinct driving directions from point A to point B–naming every street along the way. Known for his strong opinions, quick wit, and notorious dad-jokes, Gary was well loved by his family, friends, care providers, and all who crossed his path. He remained close to his family throughout his life.
Gary had a strong Christian faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a long-time member of St. Luke's Community Church in Delhi Township of Western Cincinnati. In heaven, he is alive and well, with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, and is enjoying being welcomed and reunited with his beloved sister, parents, and grandparents.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 16, from 11 am to 12 pm at the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 State Route 28, Goshen, OH 45122, where a service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gary may be directed to the Reds Community Fund, 100 Joe Nuxhall Way, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
