Eugene Miles Strand, 95, of Loveland, Ohio, passed away on August 4, 2026.

Born July 11, 1931, in Iola, Wisconsin, Eugene was the son of the late Alton and Leah Strand. He graduated from Iola High School in 1949 and later from Wisconsin State College in 1958. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.

On April 11, 1959, Eugene married Rae Plowman at First Congregational Church in New London, Wisconsin. Shortly after their wedding, the couple moved to the Cincinnati area, where they built their life together and raised their family in Loveland, Ohio. Rae preceded him in death.

Eugene began his career as a bank teller and later retired from Ball Corporation as a Payroll Supervisor. He was a longtime member of Loveland Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday School. An avid reader with a deep love of nature and flowers, Eugene spent many hours at Hob Camp Nature Center and enjoyed traveling with Rae to various nature parks. He took great pride in his Norwegian heritage and lovingly passed on the family tradition of making lefse each Christmas. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially during the holidays.

Eugene is survived by his sons, Eric (Angela) Strand of Loveland and Miles (Kendra) Strand of St. Marys; his grandchildren, Garrett (Kelsey) Strand, Alaina Strand, Leah (Luke) Vondrell, Aaron (Virginia) Larmore, and Dan (Krista) Larmore; his great-grandchildren, Gunnar Strand, Henry Larmore, Quinn Larmore, and Dawson Larmore; and his brother, Douglas Strand of Neenah, Wisconsin. He was also a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Rae, Eugene was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Strand.

Friends and family will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Avenue, Loveland, Ohio 45140. A memorial service honoring Eugene’s life will follow at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery.
