Eugene Louis Nelson, of Milford, Ohio, passed from his earthly life into his eternal home with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 13, 2025, surrounded by his precious family, at the age of 77, after a long-fought battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born October 23, 1947, in Harvard, Illinois. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Toni Nelson; children, Stephen (Alisa) Nelson, Michelle Nelson, and Phil (Lauren) Nelson; grandchildren, Stephanie (Gerald) Patten, Christopher Nelson, Brody Nelson, Ethan Grimm, Joseph Nelson, and Emary Nelson.

He is preceded in death by his precious son, David Eugene Nelson, parents, Joseph and Edna (Lobeck) Nelson, and siblings, David Nelson, Joanne Baker, and Gloria Tornatore.

Eugene served in the U.S Army as a combat engineer during the Vietnam War and has lived his life a devout and proud American Military Veteran. He retired from 30 years of work service with the United States Postal Service. He took every moment he could to share his military service and post war battles to help others understand what veterans go through and the cost that has been paid for the freedom we all have in America.

Besides his Faith and being with family, he loved Christmas time, fishing, Memorial Day parades, painting, playing games, the Wisconsin Badgers, Southern Gospel music, and Bob Dylan. =D

The funeral service will be held at 12 PM on January 18, 2025, at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, Ohio, where friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of service.

Interment will take place at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.
