On the evening of Thursday, August 26, 2021, Errol Lynn Haynes, age 67, passed away at Jupiter Medical Center after a brief illness. Lynn was a resident of Hobe Sound, Florida, for 30 years.
Errol Lynn Haynes was born on November 8, 1953, in Clinton County Hospital in Frankfurt, Indiana, to loving parents Walter G. Haynes and Irene (Cloe) Haynes. Memorable childhood retellings often included mention of his Grandfather's butcher shop, his Grandmother's good cooking, and the story that Lynn may have mischievously and harmlessly out-run a police officer a time or two during his late teenage years. Lynn graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1972. Following graduation, he enrolled in God's Bible School and College where he pursued and subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education in 1974.
Lynn married Jennie May Hotchkiss, the love of his life, on July 30, 1973. In the Fall of 1975, they welcomed their first daughter, Amy Michelle and two years later a son, David Lynn. Together, in 1977, Lynn and Jennie answered the Lord's call for their lives to do missionary work in Brazil, South America. During their time in Brazil, two more daughters were added to the family, Andrea Sue in 1981 and Angela Ruth in 1982.
Lynn was a devoted missionary! He had excellent command of the Portuguese language. His skill speaking the language often earned him compliments from the Brazilians for the absence of an English accent when he spoke! Lynn and Jennie labored for the Lord in Brazil for 13.5 wonderful years. Churches were planted, a Christian Day School was begun, souls were saved, and lifelong relationships with "their people" were established! Lynn often said those years were the best years of his life!
In 1991, Lynn moved his family to Hobe Sound, Florida, where he began his business, Haynes Landscaping Inc. While living in Hobe Sound, Lynn attended Hobe Sound Bible Church. He also served for a time as PTF president for Hobe Sound Christian Academy.
Lynn enjoyed photography, capturing some beautiful pictures! Reading books was also one of his pastimes (Zane Grey was a favorite) as was adding to his extensive collection of brass figurines. Wood-working was another of his hobbies. Recently, he made himself a table saw pusher and a mallet, both out of specialty woods, and was preparing to make Angela a special hope chest. Lynn enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
Lynn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jennie, of Hobe Sound, Florida; daughters, Amy (Jon) Ellis of Gray, Georgia, Andrea (Jaron) Sickler of Stuart, Florida, and Angela Haynes of Hobe Sound Florida; grandchildren, Katrina, Abby, Katie, Aydon, and Courtney; brothers, Steve (Nolene) Haynes and Wesley Haynes of Wabash, Indiana; sister Karen (Paul) Van Steen of Kingman, Arizona; nephews, Steve Haynes II, Daniel, Phillip, and Jonathan Somerlot of Wabash, Indiana, Kevin Walhof of Ontario, California, and Jason Walhof of Artesia, California; nieces, Melissa Kinnett of Wabash, Indiana, and Emily Somerlot of Albion, Indiana; four great nephews, seven great nieces, and one great, great nephew.
Lynn is predeceased by son, David Lynn Haynes; parents, Walter and Irene Haynes, and sister, Regina Somerlot Pitts.
