Obituary

Errol G. Everson of Montgomery, OH, passed away March 6, 2025, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Marilyn Everson (Newell) for 64 years. Loving father of Mark (Sara Michaels) Everson, David (Christine) Everson, and Kathleen (Chris Nunn) Everson. Cherished grandfather of Aidan Everson, Anya Everson, Megan Everson, William Everson, Kali Everson, and Lucas Portwine. Caring brother of Gurine Fogg and the late Jim Everson.

Errol was born in Duluth, MN, to Edna and Eugene Everson. He graduated from Beaver Dam HS '56 (WI), and attended Carroll College (WI), where he met his wife, Marilyn. During his school years, Errol was an Eagle Scout, played competitive tennis, sang in choirs, and served in leadership with DeMolay. Errol graduated with a business degree from Carroll College '60, and He and Marilyn were married in 1961. Errol graduated with an MBA from the Wharton School of Business '62 (PA), after which he joined Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati (OH). Two years later he was drafted into the US Army where he completed Basic Training, Officer Candidate School, and two years of service in Germany as a commissioned officer. While in Germany, Marilyn and Errol lived with a German family and had the opportunity to tour and camp across Europe. In 1964, after an honorable discharge from the Army, they returned to Cincinnati and P&G where all three children were born and raised. Errol was actively engaged in church and community, played mixed doubles with Marilyn, and participated in his kids' activities--soccer, tennis, camping and travel. After 37 years of hard work and many friendships, Errol proudly retired from Procter and Gamble.

For the past 30 years, Errol and Marilyn (often with friends and family) have spent time every spring in their condo on the beach at Hilton Head Island where together they played tennis, walked on the beach, played bridge, and made lifelong friends. They maintained an active life traveling together including regular adventures with their "Study Group". In 2023 they moved to Twin Lakes Retirement Community where Errol lived until his death.

Errol's personality was infectious. He had a love of God, believed in the importance of family, and was driven to live a life of high moral standard. He was outgoing and friendly, and didn't shy away from hard questions or political conversations. His intellect was balanced with his empathy, and no one was a stranger. Errol had a love for music, playing the piano, competing in table tennis, indulging with ice cream (esp. UDF Homemade Chocolate Chip), and battling Marilyn in cribbage. He was passionate about serving his community and Sycamore Presbyterian Church, where he had a knack for motivating others to serve.

His wife and best friend ("Wiffie") loved him dearly, his grown children miss their dad's wisdom and sense of humor, and the grandchildren know he was the best "Gonco" ever! We have lost a role model and force for good. Now we are all tasked to continue his legacy by living honestly, embracing family, and treating others as they would want to be treated.

Family and friends will be received Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon at Sycamore Presbyterian Church, 11800 Mason Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249, where a Memorial Service will begin at 12:00 noon. Donations in Errol's memory may be directed to Sycamore Presbyterian Church , Family Promise of Warren County , or the Countryside YMCA .
