Ernie Tong passed away on July 3, 2015, in Loveland, Ohio, following a long battle with cancer. His doctors, nurses and friends were amazed how he fought so long with such grace, dignity, and strength. Ernie was the loving, thoughtful and sweet husband of Rene Walker-Tong; honorable son to Virginia and the late Kam Kai Tong; watchful and attentive brother to Vivian Tong, Kathy Tong and the late Irene Wing; nurturing guide and beloved father to son David (Tracy) and daughter Kim (Greg); deeply caring grandpa to Adrienne, Julia and Jack; and wise, encouraging uncle to his nieces and nephews. Born on July 28, 1947, in San Francisco, California, Ernie attended Marina Middle School, Lowell High School, and San Jose State University. He received his MBA from Cal State Hayward. Ernie was an accomplished business executive and was awarded a patent for one of his projects at Owens-Illinois. His career took him to many places and on his travels he met Rene, a United Airlines' flight attendant. Ernie was a gracious gentleman who enjoyed attending Pilates classes, playing tennis, serving as an Elder in his Church, participating in a book club, and volunteering at Sugartree Ministries. Those who knew him best remarked on his calm demeanor, thoughtfulness and insightfulness. Each day he asked, "What did I do today?" and "How can I make it better tomorrow?" A Memorial Service will be held at Sycamore Presbyterian Church, 11800 Mason Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249 on Saturday, July 18, at 11 AM.
