Obituary

Elsie Jean (nee Wrenn) Lewis of Loveland. Beloved mother of Lori (Greg) Tidwell. Loving daughter of Mary Alsop Wrenn and the late Charles Wrenn, Sr. Proud grandmother of Whitney Tidwell. Dear sister of Debra Wrenn and the late Anita Coble, Charles Wrenn, Jr., and Brenda Livingston. Survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Passed away on April 9, 2013 at age 68. Elsie Jean (nee Wrenn) Lewis was born April 24, 1944 to Mary Katherine (nee Alsop) Wrenn and the late Charles William Wrenn, Sr. in Cincinnati, OH. She departed this life on April 9, 2013 at the Blue Ash Hospice Care Center surrounded by her loved ones. Elsie was a beloved mother to Lori (Greg) Tidwell and a proud grandmother to Whitney Tidwell. She was a dear sister to Debra Wrenn and the late Anita J. Coble, Charles W. Wrenn, Jr., and Brenda J. Livingston. She is survived by 7 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews. When Elsie was in Loveland Middle School, the Loveland High School asked Elsie, her sister Anita, Judy Adams, and Paula Mitchell to perform in their variety show. They were so good that they went on to perform at Lockland High School's variety show where they tapped danced alongside a group that later became known as the Isley Brothers. She was also a majorette and had the task of teaching her fellow classmates how to dance. And she enjoyed every minute of it. Elsie truly loved to dance! After Elsie graduated from Loveland High School in 1962, she married Donald Lewis later that year. The following year, she was blessed with a daughter from this union. Lori was her pride and joy from the start. In 1965, Elsie, being single again, headed to California with her daughter Lori to be with her sister Anita. The two of them set the town on fire and partied with the stars! Elsie had no need for airs and graces; what you saw was what you got, and what you got was a charismatic, engaging, energetic, vibrant personality that drew people to her. She was always the life of the party wherever she went. She did everything from braiding Smokey Robinson's hair to teaching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar how to dance. See, there she goes dancing again! Years later, Elsie returned home and began working at Kroger. For more than 10 years she was the face of Kroger. Everyone in Loveland looked forward to standing in Elsie's line no matter how long it was. She retired from Kroger in 2001. After retirement, Elsie devoted her life to taking care of her family. In 2009, Elsie was diagnosed with lung cancer. After a year of fighting hard, she went into remission. She was able to truly enjoy her life by doing the things she loved, such as spending time with her great nephews, hanging out at the pool to catch some sun, relax or to socialize and make new friends (which came with such ease for her), partying with her family and friends, of course, going dancing, and let's not forget her romance novels. In November of 2012, Elsie was once again diagnosed with another form of lung cancer. After 5 months of fighting, she lost her battle to cancer. We get great comfort in knowing that 3 weeks prior to losing her life, Elsie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Elsie's time came far too soon, both for her and for those who loved her. But God has His own special plan for her life now. She will truly be missed by those of us who were privileged to have her in our lives.
