Obituary

Elaine (Fink) Mullin. Born March 10, 1940. Passed away February 13, 2021. A much loved woman who loved her Lord, her family and her profession. Surviving are husband Rev. Michael; sons Joel (Cindy) and Steven (Dee); granddaughters Samantha, Elizabeth and Madelyn; grandsons Cameron and Austin; and one brother George survives. Elaine did cross stitch, taught children and adults, played piano, saxophone, bassoon and flute, did good work, was a good cook and a gifted manager. Photography was her passion. OT's often have many skills. Her first professional job was to form an occupational therapy department at a hospital in Cleveland. As department head, she hired staff and established the program where she worked until marriage and moving to Pittsburgh in 1966. There she experienced pioneering treatment of children with perceptual and developmental issues. She was also Mike's visible means of support. In 1970, the family moved to Elwood, Indiana. The seven years there were a time of volunteer work and motherhood. While raising two boys as a pastor's wife, she restructured and greatly expanded the Visiting Nurse Association in Madison and Tipton Counties. In 1981, Elaine became managing partner at Cincinnati Occupational Institute where she led until her retirement. Her concern for children with perceptual and developmental issues was fulfilled at COTI, a pioneering center for children and adults with sensory integration disorders and for the education of countless occupational therapists in this area of practice. Based on her broad range of experience in OT, she developed contracts with schools, long term care and home health settings. She spearheaded the formation of Tri Therapy Associates to offer integrated OT, PT and Speech Therapy in adult settings. Elaine was instrumental in founding the OT Assistant program at Cincinnati State, and the degree program in OT at Xavier University. Elaine led with a servant leader style and was trusted for her integrity. Building relationships with others was the cornerstone of her work. She was a mentor to many in the community, professionally and personally. Her faith was evident in her day-to-day leadership. Laus Deo! Friends will be received Sunday, February 21 from 3-4 PM at Montgomery Community Church, 11251 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati 45249, where funeral services will follow at 4 PM.
