Edward E. Smith, Jr. age 86 of Symmes Township passed away at his home on November 20, 2014 with his wife and children surrounding him. He was born in North Plainfield, New Jersey on December 26, 1927, an identical twin. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Suzanne, his children Marcella (Rick) Marsh, Daniel (Faye) Smith, Kathleen (John) Walters, and Leslie (Keith) Moore, six grandchildren and two great grandsons. After graduating from North Plainfield High School, he served in the US Navy from 1945 -1947. Following his service he graduated from Purdue University in Engineering using the GI Bill. He was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity and earned a private pilot's license while at Purdue. He received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Xavier University. He worked in the jet engine division of General Electric for 37 years. Ed was ordained as a Ruling Elder of the Springdale Presbyterian Church. His love of baseball made him a loyal fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed growing and showing roses as a member of the Greater Cincinnati Rose Association. The club honored him with the bronze medal. His most enjoyable times were having all of his family in the home he built 48 years ago.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 2:30 PM in the Chapel at Sycamore Presbyterian Church, 11800 Mason Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249. A reception will be held at the church immediately after.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial donations to the Salvation Army, Hospice of Cincinnati or charity of your choice.
