Lenney was Principal of the Loveland Middle School from 1982 until he retired in 1996. In all, Lenney was an educator in the Loveland School District for 33 years. Lenney came out of retirement in 2002 to become the Principal of St. Julie Billiart Schoo Family request that memorial contributions in memory of Edward be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society of SW Ohio.
