Edward J. Moro, Jr., 87, of Loveland, Ohio, formerly of Wintersville, Ohio, died November 25, 2020, at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ed was born, February 3, 1933, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, to the late Edward and Ann Moro. Ed is also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. Becker Moro, and his brother, Joseph Moro. Ed is survived by his three daughters, Beth (Jim) Wood of Colliers, WV, Robin Moro of Loveland, OH, and Becky McGarry of Maineville, OH; his two grandchildren, Jordan Wood of Colliers, WV, and Christopher (Kayla) McGarry of Cincinnati, OH; and his sister, Jeanette Minotti of Mingo Junction, OH.
Ed was a graduate of the College of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio. Ed served in the Army at the end of the Korean War at the Fort Huachuca Army Base in Arizona. After his military service, Ed taught advanced math, trigonometry and calculus first at Wayne High School in Bloomingdale, Ohio, and then at Wintersville High School in Wintersville, Ohio. Ed and Shirley had a real estate sales business, Moro Realty, Inc., in Wintersville, Ohio, until they relocated to Loveland, Ohio, in 1989. Ed then taught at Baden High School after relocating to the Cincinnati area.
Ed had many interests. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting and he was a skilled carpenter. He had a hand in the construction of all the homes he lived in and loved building things with his hands. Ed loved to play his guitar; it was never far away. After retirement, he and his wife Shirley spent many years traveling the country with the Tri-State Traveliers Motor Coach group where they organized musical events and sing-alongs. One of Ed's pet projects was the restoration of a 1929 Ford Model A. Ed was an active member of the Good Shepherd parish in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he served every Sunday as an usher.
A gathering for close family and friends will be held at from 10 AM - 12 PM with services at 12 PM on Wednesday, December 2 at the Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel in Wintersville, OH, following which he will be interred at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio.
