Edward Erle Ezell, Jr., husband of the late Jane (nee Friberg) Ezell, died on Friday, April 11, 2008 while a resident of the Meadowbrook Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was 87. Prior to moving to Cincinnati, Mr. Ezell was a long time resident of St. Charles MO. Born in Hickman, Kentucky, he was the son of Edward Erle, Sr. and Nina (nee Isbell) Ezell. Shortly after getting married, he was called to serve in the Army Air Corp as a camera and photo technician. He served as an aerial photographer with the 313 Air Wing, 22nd Photo Lab squadron in the Marianna Islands and during the air offensive on Japan. Following his discharge from the service at the end of the war, he pursued a civilian career with the Department of Defense. As a logistics officer, he worked for the Army Corp of Engineers and prior to retirement as Deputy Director of the Army Material Command in Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Ezell was an active member of the Order of DeMolay, a 33 degree Member of Masonic lodges in Falls Church, VA and St. Charles, MO, the Scottish rite, and the Clown Unit of Moolah Shriner's Temple in St. Louis, MO. He was also an active supporter of the Shriner's Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO. He held a private pilot's license, and enjoyed building and flying his own model planes, working in his shop, and photography. Survivors include children Rev. Dr. Susan Ezell of Moosic, PA, John and wife Patricia Ezell of Loveland, Ohio, Edward Erle Ezell, III of Gresham, OR and wife Margaret of Kalamazoo, MI, and Leslie and husband Patrick Rolands of St. Charles, MO. He is also survived by nine grand children, one great grand child, and other family members. Service and commitment will be at the convenience of family. Memorial gifts may be sent to any Shriner's Hospital.
