Obituary

Edward Bailey, born January 8, 1924 in Cynthiana, KY to the late Everett B. and Elizabeth (nee Hill) Bailey and passed away October 22, 2012 in Wilmington, OH at the age of 88. Ed was the loving husband of 34 years to Dorothy (nee Blanton) Bailey of Blanchester, OH and former wife, the late Maxine (nee Starkey) Bailey; father of Brent (Mary) Bailey of Blanchester, Joseph (Tammy) Bailey of Blanchester, Becky (John) Barney of Waynesville, and Bonnie (David) Adkisson of Lexington, KY; grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; beloved brother of Dale Bailey, Ted Bailey, Barbara Ferriel, Yvonne Hackworth and the late Billy Bailey. Ed was a 60 year member Masonic Lodge Blanchester #191 32nd Mason, Past District Deputy Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, WWII Veteran, First duty in Panama, Assigned to the 26th Infantry Division in France, a part of the 3rd Army under the leadership of General Patton. Remained with the 26th infantry as it fought through France, Germany, Austria and into Czechoslovakia. After the war ended, assumed duties as a Prisoner of War Food Administrator for prison of War camp containing the 11th Panzer Division. A member of an infantry battalion, combat and recon squad. Following retirement in 1981 as Director of Utilities for Blanchester, OH, traveled and worked as a peace corp volunteer in the following countries Philippines, Boliva, Equador, Nicaragua, Porta Rico and Mexico. Served on Board of Peoples Building and Loan, also board of Blanchester Public Library. He was also an independent Agent for Grange Mutual Insurance in Blanchester and worked as a grain farmer. Private graveside services with Jim Krusling will be held at the Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Ed's name may be made to the Blanchester Public Library, 110 N.
