Edith (nee Womack) Bates was born on December 29, 1918 in Conway, Arkansas to the late Richard and Mamie (nee Boner) Womack and passed away on December 23, 2012 in Blanchester, OH at the age of 93. Edith was the devoted wife of 61 years to the late Chester E. Bates; loving mother of Richard W. (Sharon) Bates of Columbus, OH, Barbara (Rod) Lane of Blanchester, OH, Becky (Phil) Blankenship of Blanchester, OH and Doug (Linda) Bates of Columbus, OH; proud and loving grandmother of Alex (Jennifer) Bates, Kate Menard, Beth (Matt) White, Todd (Deanna) Lane, Kris (Brad) Zimmerman and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by a brother and 4 sisters. She was a 1940 graduate of Lambuth College in Jackson, TN, a Life long member of the Methodist Church and a member of Amacitia Club and the Tuesday Club. Friends will be received from 10-11 am on Saturday December 29, 2012 at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. Blanchester, OH 45107. Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Saturday December 29, 2012 also at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Koerber officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church of Blanchester, 201 E. Center St. Blanchester, OH 45107. Interment will be at the Blanchester I.O.O.F.
