Obituary

Dorothy Mae Blanton Bailey age 84, died on May 2, 2015 at her daughter's home in Lexington, Kentucky surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Edward Bailey. Dorothy was born Jan 14, 1931 in Hispanola Kentucky (near Richmond). Her parents were Butler and Estella Blanton of Owensville, Ohio Dorothy was one of 5 children all of whom have preceded her in death. She operated her own beauty shop in Blanchester for 33 years and obtained her Associates degree from Chatfield College. She loved her family, quilting, gardening and her church. Dorothy was the treasurer at the Second Creek Methodist church for many years. Dorothy and Ed were an adventurous and fun-loving couple who enjoyed several stints with the Peace Corp. working in Bolivia, Ecuador and the Philippines. Dorothy and her husband Edward loved the town of Blanchester where they lived for over 60 years. She worked at the election polls for many years and took great interest in community affairs had provided office space for the Blanchester Chamber of Commerce. Dorothy loved music, square dancing and enjoyed playing piano although she had never had a lesson. Survivors include her daughters Becky Ramsey (John) Barney of Waynesville, Ohio, and grandsons, John Phillip of Louisville, KY and Patrick (Tracy) Butler of Cincinnati Ohio and her great granddaughter Colette Patrice. She is also survived by her daughter Bonnie Ramsey (David) Adkisson of Lexington, KY and grandchildren, Kendra Marie (John) Ferguson and Cyrus and her great grandchildren Violet Estelle, Erickson and Love Ferguson. She is also survived by stepsons Brent (Mary)Bailey and Joseph (Tammy) Bailey and their children, James(Erin) Stoddard and great grandson Capon, and Brooke (Chris) Stingley and great grandsons Jack and Owen. Dorothy was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11am at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester, Ohio, where friends will be received from 10am until time of service. Interment will take place at Blanchester IOOF Cemetery. Food and fellowship will follow services at the Blanchester cemetery Hospitality Room. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to: Second Creek Methodist Church, Blanchester Ohio and/or Blanchester Community Food Pantry, 318 E. Main St. Blanchester, Ohio 45107.
