Obituary

Dorothy Ann Knuth was born April 14, 1931 in the small town of Iona, Minnesota. She was the oldest girl, 2nd in line of 16 children. After completing 8th grade, Dorothy spent her high school years in Worthington, Minnesota as a live-in nanny. She would return home on the weekends to visit her family, who she treasured, especially her Mother, Minnie Fischer. After graduation from high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Knuth on August 19, 1950. Dorothy was a devoted Grandmother, Mother, daughter, sister and a genuine loyal friend. She loved to play Tournament Bridge with Bob and also partnered with friends and proudly displayed her many trophies to prove it! Dorothy also enjoyed the game of golf, playing in couples leagues in the early years with Bob, or with her girlfriends at the local courses. She was delighted to share with others how she was instrumental in encouraging her grandchildren to also love the game of golf. Dorothy was a creative seamstress with her abilities to the point she would re make the insides of clothing or alter the appearance of the clothing she purchased to meet her standards! After leaving Minnesota and moving to Indiana with Steve in tow, Dave came along during their brief stay in Jasper Indiana in 1954. After a few moves in Indiana and Ohio, Dorothy and Bob set down roots in Plymouth, Indiana in 1962. In 1963, their only daughter, Cheryl was born. During this time in Plymouth, once Cheryl became school aged, Dorothy worked at the license bureau as a Clerk and thoroughly enjoyed the friendships she made and of course the golf outings. Dorothy and Bob also attended State Basketball Tournaments when Plymouth High School advanced. They were involved in the Governor Elections with their longtime friends who they remained in contact with for many years. They belonged to the Plymouth Country Club where they continued their avid love of golf and the friendships they developed! Upon Dave's graduation from high school in 1972, Bob, Dorothy, Steve and Cheryl moved to Toledo, Ohio. Once settled, Dorothy worked at a family owned business, Electra and again, established strong friendships whom she remained in contact for many years to come. In fact, they became her golf partners! After her retirement from Electra in 1985, she continued enjoying time on the golf course, visits to her family in Minnesota, and enjoying her grandchildren's activities and accomplishments. Dorothy prided herself as a self-taught bookkeeper, assisting Steve with his businesses even while working at Electra. After 23 years in Toledo, she and Bob made the move to Cincinnati (Milford) in 1995 where Cheryl was living with her family. Both Bob and Dorothy had an adjustment now both retired and sharing the same space! Most notably the kitchen! Bob had his man cave (the basement) and Dorothy had her space, the rest of the house! Over time, they found their mojo. Dorothy loved when Bob found a golf league and she found the mall! She remained active even into her later years, still travelling to see family in Minnesota, golfing, shopping, and she thoroughly enjoyed supporting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was the snow day Grandmother for her grandkids in Milford and proudly taught them poker, dominos and other card games. She is a breast cancer survivor from 1998 and remained humble about her journey. She drove herself to chemo every three weeks, then daily radiation treatments followed by trips to the mall for retail therapy. She is truly a fighter yet a gentle person. Her presence will be greatly missed, and we can only hope her memories are no longer a struggle. Dorothy passed away on November 4, 2019 with her family at her side at the age of 88. Dorothy is the beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Wayne Knuth. Loving mother of Stephen Knuth, David (Beth) Knuth, and Cheryl (Eric) Scholz. Proud grandmother of Jamie (Andrew) Prather, Daniel (Katie) Knuth, Wesley (Sarah) Knuth, Rebecca (Brad) Bailey, Lauren Regueyra, Tyler Regueyra, and Nicolas Regueyra.
