Obituary

Donna Mae Lewis (nee Groves) was born in Goshen, Ohio, March 2, 1922. She reached the amazing age of 103 before passing on March 14, 2025, following a short illness.

Donna attended school in Goshen, had excellent grades and was a star on the girl's basketball team. After graduation she attended business school and worked for Baldwin Piano Company. When first married, she followed her husband in the Army Air Corp. and worked on the military bases. For entertainment as an adult she enjoyed bowling and still kept her trophies out on display. Donna enjoyed playing cards all the time; she taught a lot of her friends at Pinebrook Retirement Community how to play cards so there was always a weekly card game.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband Vernie Lewis, her parents Vancil & Velma Groves, brother Charles Groves, and her grandson Nicholas Bond. She is survived by her sister Richilee Groves, her daughter Karen (Stephen) Bond, nieces, nephews and many friends at Pinebrook.

Honoring Donna's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service and burial will be private. Donna said that she was "too old for all that fuss". Donna requests that you celebrate her memory individually in any way that will make you happy. In place of plants or flowers, donations could be made to American Heart Association, PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockdale Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
