Obituary

Donald "Don" James Cadwallader of Blanchester, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday Nov. 5, 2013 at home. He was 73. Don was born on July 23, 1940 in Midland, OH. Don was the son of the late Roy and Faye (Roush) Cadwallader, also of Blanchester. Don married Kathleen "Kathy" McDaniel on January 13, 1962, and spent 50 years together. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2012. Besides his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, James Ira Cadwallader on August, 27, 2000; a brother, Daryl V. Cadwallader on July 14, 1984. Don is survived by his three daughters, Kim Schoner of Georgetown; Donna Cadwallader of Clarksville and Jennifer (Steve) Jarrell of Wilmington. He is also survived by grandchildren Megan (Cody) Mell; Brittany Schoner; Dalton Florea; Austin Florea, Dakota Jarrell and Cheyenne Jarrell. Also, he is survived by one great granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Mell and a second great grandchild due in March. He is also survived by a sister, Marilyn (Eugene) Bailey of North Canton, OH; a sister-in-law, Charlotte (Daryl) Cadwallader of Columbus; assorted nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Judy Blanchard; and his dogs Shorty and Rudy, plus friends from across the United States. A 1958 graduate of Blanchester High School, Don worked for his father's farm implement business, Roy Cadwallader & Sons, before starting his own trucking businesses. He worked as a milk delivery driver for Sealtest and Borden. In 1976, Don started his career as an over-the-road truck driver, first working with Schneider Trucking Co. of Green Bay, Wisconsin and then Fleet-Ryder Trucking of Janesville, Wisconsin. A lifelong Teamster member, his career took him all over the back roads and interstates of America before his retirement in 2002. Don also was a member of Fastiques Car Club; the Eagles F.O.E. Lodge 2222 and the Blanchester Senior Citizens. He was a member of St. Angela Merici Parish, St. Martin Chapel, St. Martin, Ohio. Don enjoyed spending his time tinkering on old cars and trucks. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. You could find him on Friday nights watching his grandson, Austin, play football for Clinton Massie; and all other activities with his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home in Blanchester. A brief Eagles ceremony will occur immediately afterward. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on November 11, 2013, at the St. Martin Church, 20864 St. Rt. 251 Fayetteville, OH 45118. Interment will follow immediately at Hamer Twp. Cemetery, Hamer Twp., OH in Highland County.
