Obituary

Derick Gregory Morris of Loveland passed away September 18, 2021 at the age of 37. A best friend, soul-mate and beloved husband of Lauren Morris and a loving father of Liam (9) and Scarlett (5). A cherished and wonderful son of Greg and Vicki Morris and an amazing brother of Jessica (David) Cheung and Kevin (Gina) Morris. A devoted son-in-law of Greg and Pat Keller and a caring brother-in-law of Kara (Scott) Spaeth. A proud uncle of Aiden, Adyson, Aurora, Cedar, Logan and Madalyn and a great and loyal friend to many. Derick loved his family and his kids were his everything. Derick and Lauren met playing indoor soccer and she fell for his good looks, outgoing personality and competitive drive. She knew he was the one when he agreed to ballroom dancing lessons even though his skills needed work and Lauren would get in trouble by their instructor for leading. Derick was the most fun and loving father. From teaching Liam and Scarlett how to bike ride, fish, along with coaching their soccer and playing poker (yes he taught a 4 year old to play), he always made his kids top priority. Derick was a member of the 530am running group and enjoyed everything outdoors (running, biking, swimming, mushroom hunting). A big fan of animals, he loved his dogs, Dori and Coco Beans. A frequenter of downtown Loveland, you would see Derick and his family with their dogs headed for a beer, eating ice-cream or fossil hunting. Derick was one of a kind especially when it came to business ventures. An accomplished entrepreneur - he excelled at building and developing new business concepts (wheels and tires, outdoor apparel and online marketing) into successful operating establishments. He was an expert of e-commerce proprietorship. A forward thinker who was always up for a new challenge. Never wanting to leave his family and friends, Derick gave it his all. True to his character he was strong, steadfast and courageous, always putting his family first. Derick will be greatly missed. He was the best of everything – husband, dad, son, brother and friend. In lieu of flowers (Derick would say Lauren has way too many), take time out of your day to tell your kids how much you love them, tell your significant other how amazing they are and tell your family how lucky you are to have them. If you would like to make a donation, the family kindly requests your donations to: Cancer Research Institute click here to donate online Or Sicsa – they promote the welfare and adoption of companion animals. Dori was adopted from Sisca, Derick's favorite dog. click here to donate online In respect to the current environment, a celebration of life will be held next year. Details to follow. Until then go outside, take a run or a walk or go for a bike-ride. Honor and remember Derick with some of his best-loved things.
