Dennis Anthony Pedicini, 79, passed away peacefully, with family by his side,on Saturday February 16, 2019. Born in Trenton, NJ to the late Anthony and Elizabeth ("Betty") Pedicini, he resided in Scotch Plains for almost 50 years, before moving to Lake Lorelei in Fayetteville, OH and more recently Coconut Creek, FL.
Dennis graduated from Scotch Plains Fanwood High School in 1957 and attended Seton Hall University. For over 30 years, he and his wife, Judy, owned and operated the Scotch Plains children's clothing store, "Stork Fair." He later worked at Tire Associates in Green Brook and Chester NJ. Dennis was very involved in his communities, serving in numerous ways for many years: Scotch Plains Businessmen's Association (Corresponding /Public Relations Secretary 1965), 30 year member SP Lions Club (President 1971-72), SP Midget League Basketball Director (1975), SP Community Fund In-Town Business Chairman (1977), SP Independent Men's Softball League (President 1979; League Director 1986-1990), SP Police Department Juvenile Diversion Program (Sentencing Panel), SPFHS DECA (Business Mentor) YMCA (Board Member 1979-1980 & Organizing Member, Platform Tennis Travel Club 1985), SP Recreation Commission (Chairman 1983-1984), and as an accredited high school and youth soccer referee and men's slow pitch softball umpire. In Ohio, he volunteered for 15 years as a Marshall for the Western & Southern Tennis Open (13 year Captain) and was a member of the Lake Lorelei Advisory Board. In Florida, he was an enthusiastic participant of the Wymoor Community Pickleball Association and greatly enjoyed playing golf with his buddies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Judith "Judy" (Miller), his devoted children, Diane Pedicini Duvall and her husband Marty, Jeff Pedicini and his wife Patricia, and his four cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Carly, Megan and Nicole. He is also survived by his dear brother Richard Pedicini of Berkley Heights NJ, several brother and sister-in-laws, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and a treasure trove of wonderful friends, including a very special waddle of Penguins.
A remembrance visitation will be held on Saturday March 2, 2019 from 2pm-5pm at Memorial Funeral Home, Fanwood NJ, with a separate service to follow this spring in Ohio.
The family would like to give a special thanks to their Lake Lorelei friends who provided Dennis much support, companionship and continued good humor this winter and would suggest any memorial donations for Dennis be directed to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, www.jimmyv.org or Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, Ohio.
