Deborah L. (nee Leech), 58, of Loveland Ohio died Thursday July 18 at Hospice of Cincinnati, Blue Ash. For over 28 years she was the loving wife of Dr. Tom Heitkemper, and was the devoted and proud mother of Courtney Powell (nee Heitkemper), Meredith Heitkemper, and Jennifer Heitkemper. She was considered a "second mom" by many of her children's friends. She was also proud to call Derek Powell her son-in-law (and partner in crime). She was the daughter of the late Harry and Martha Leech of Toledo, OH, and sister of Pat Watson, John Leech, Jim Leech, and Jerry Leech. Debbie was also grandma to Jackson Powell, due to be born this fall. Debbie was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who helped countless children during her nearly 30 years at Children's Hospital. Her desire to excel led to her to obtaining her BSN in 2009. Most of all, Debbie was known for her infectious laugh, her feisty spirit, and her fierce loyalty to friends and family. She never met a stranger and rarely met a glass of red wine she didn't enjoy. In short, her kindness and strength, and her wisdom and honor are how she will be remembered and how she will watch over us as the angel she has now become. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret of York Catholic Church 9495 Columbia Rd. Loveland, Ohio 45140 on Tuesday July 23, 2013 at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 5 to 8 PM. and on Tuesday from 10 AM. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in Debbie's memory may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
