David Edward Kratzer, CMSGT retired U.S. Air Force, of Westerville, Ohio passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at the age of 85. He was born April 8, 1931 in Wilmington, Ohio, the son of Roy Kratzer, Sr. and Lennia (Brooks) Kratzer. David is survived by the love of his life of 58 years, Charma Lee (Creager) Kratzer whom he married on November 1, 1957. He is also survived by his three children, David (Joyce) Kratzer of Omaha, NE, Joel (Pam) Kratzer of Westerville, OH and Janelle (Hal) Daugherty of Euclid, OH; seven grandchildren, Sterling Kratzer, Jessica (Jason) Manly, Laura (Kurt) Marks, Brenton Kratzer, Jacquelyn Daugherty, Harold Daugherty and Jacob Daugherty; three great-grandchildren Alexa Manly, Quin Manly and Luke Marks; sister Judy (Jack) Palmer, brother Dallas (Linda) Kratzer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Geneva, Agnes, Roy Jr., Gerald, Dorothy, Betty, Mary Ann, Daniel, Barbara and Rose. David served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years and was a Vietnam Veteran and Honor Flight recipient. After retirement, he worked as a Technical Writer for General Electric's Propulsion Unit for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 171 and AMVETS Post 89, and was a Westerville Senior Center volunteer. David was a loving husband, devoted father, wonderful grandfather and a special friend to many. His great sense of humor sustained us all. Irreplaceable is the best word to describe him. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 West Main Street, Blanchester, Ohio 45107. Military graveside service will be conducted by the U.S. Armed Forces at the Blanchester IOOF Cemetery immediately following the service.
