David Howell Pettifer Clarke went home to heaven on the morning of July 2nd, 2012. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Margaret (nee Swonnell) Clarke in 2000, as well as his parents, Arthur and Nellie (nee Pettifer) Clarke, his brother Arnold and (Betty) Clarke, and his sister Edna (John) Parham. He was the beloved father of Evangeline (Jeff) DeVol, Alison (Chuck) Wilson and Heather (Scott) Barnes. He was also the very proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Chris (Kylie) Wilson, Jacqueline (Todd) Bowerman, Matt (Rochelle) Wilson, David Miller, Kate Barnes, Jill Barnes, and Benjamin DeVol. In addition, he was the Uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in England, Australia, New Zealand, France and the U.S. David grew up in China of missionary parents and lived in England, British Guyana, Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Hong Kong, and the U.S before retiring from Alcan Aluminum Inc. to Osterville MA where he lived from 1986 2006. He moved to Cincinnati Ohio in 2006 to be closer to family and died at the age of 86 in the home of his eldest daughter, Evangeline. A "Celebration of Life" gathering will take place on Saturday, July 7th at 11:00am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 101 South Lebanon Road, Loveland, Ohio. A private burial will take place at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Osterville MA at a date still to be decided.
