Rev. Danny Ray Stringer finished his race on August 24, 2026, at the age of 74. He fought the good fight, and now he gets to rest in the arms of Jesus.

He was born on November 23, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Cecil and Myrtle (née Godby) Stringer.

Pastor Danny married the love of his life, Holly (née Thomas) Stringer, on November 4, 1974. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage and two sons, Travis (Robin) Smalley and Thad (Theresa) Stringer.

God expanded their family to include 10 grandchildren: Anita (Travis) Koopmans, Joshua (Aleksandra) Smalley, Anthony “Big A” Stringer, Klowey Stringer, Charley Stringer, Danny Ray Stringer, Jesse Stringer, Anthony “Lil A” Stringer, Miley Stringer, and Shy Stringer. They were also blessed with three honorary grandchildren: Isaac Stratton, T.T. Stratton, and Abby Stratton.

Danny was further blessed to be called Great-Grandpa by Finn, Jordyn, Izah, Aria, and Thad Thomas. He is survived by his siblings Ken (Margie) Stringer, Brenda (Lew) Hale, Darrell (Karen) Stringer, Janice Stringer, and preceded in death by his brother, Gary Stringer and sister, Shirley (Gary) Gregory.

Pastor Danny devoted his life to loving God and loving people. He coached many young boys in Knothole baseball and served on the Goshen Local School District Board of Education for 12 years.

He devoted countless years to Hill Station Baptist Church, where he served in numerous positions. He will be especially remembered for his years as youth director and executive pastor. Many will remember him driving that old blue bus to football games, church camp, and mission trips.

Danny also used his skills as a carpenter not only in Goshen to provide for his family, but also across the country on numerous mission trips. He poured his life into those he served, leaving a lasting mark on each one for the Lord.

Danny’s legacy will continue to live on through his family, the many lives he influenced, and Hill Station Baptist Church. His life was a testimony to his love for God, his love for people, and his desire to serve the Lord faithfully.

Friends will be received on Thursday, August 27, from 4:30–7:30 p.m. at Hill Station Baptist Church, 7100 Hill Station Rd., Goshen, OH 45122. A service will begin at 7:30 p.m.

A private family graveside service will take place on Friday at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
