COL Terry R. Keene, age 60 , of Cincinnati, Ohio, succumbed to complications of prostate cancer and was welcomed into heaven on August 14, 2018 at his home in Cincinnati. He passed with his family at his side. Terry was born in Sioux City, IA on August 24, 1957 to Larry and Dorothy Keene (nee Parker). He was the middle child of 5 children. He lived in Sioux City and later moved to Fremont, NE where he attended and finished his schooling. He was married Julie Anne Keene (nee Kubicki) on November 29, 2002 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He enlisted in the US Army on August 27, 1975 and was stationed at Fort Carson, CO until August 1977, and then was assigned to Berlin Brigade 1977-1979 where he was discharged. He joined the US Army Reserve. In December 2002, he was called to Active Duty at Fort Knox, KY and later discharged in September 2003 to return to work. February 2006 he was again called up to serve as an Iraqi Battalion Staff Officer on a Military Transition Team where he served 4 combat tours through April 2008. COL Keene went on to serve on Active Duty earning 2 Legions of Merit and Bronze Star retiring from Active Duty in February 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Dell (nee Parker) Keene April 27, 2004 and his father Larry Leonard Keene on April 11, 2012.
Terry is survived by his wife Julie Anne Keene (nee Kubicki) and his granddaughter and adopted daughter Kiahna N. Volmer. His remaining siblings are John Keene (Stacy) of Fremont, NE, ZoAnn Keene of Omaha, NE, Mitzi Smith (Michael) of LaVista, NE, Larry Keene (Sandra) of Fremont, NE with a host of nieces and nephews. He is a member of the DAV Chapter 63 Clermont County, OH, and VFW Chapter 7696 West Chester, OH. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Drive, Loveland, OH 45140. Remembrances and eulogies will be begin at 9:30 A.M. with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8815 East Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Fort Knox, KY and Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 7696 West Chester, Ohio. A Celebration of Life to will continue after the burial at the Marriott Mason located at 9664 S. Mason Montgomery Road.
