Obituary

Carolyn Ann Binzer (nee Kast) born June 27, 1946 in Vincennes, Indiana passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, August 15, 2021. She is survived by her husband Daniel C. Binzer, sister Jan (Greg) Poppe, daughters Miranda (Mark) Schehr, Molli (Vanessa) Dudding, grandchildren Kathryn & Andrew Schehr, granddog Opie, and many (great) nieces & nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by both parents, Cletus P. and Mary Kay Kast, favorite aunt and uncle Margaret and Morris Cardinal, and granddogs, Zero and Korey. Carolyn's family moved to St. Bernard when she was 8 and she attended Our Lady of Angels High School and then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Edgecliff College in 1968. Carolyn worked in marketing at P&G for 15 years until blessed with her girls and pivoted to writing freelance marketing reports. Carolyn was an avid Xavier basketball fan and a lover of crime dramas, murder mysteries and detective shows. She parlayed her voracious reading into a vocabulary that filled in many nightly crossword puzzles. In their retirement, Dan and Carolyn embraced their love of travel and sense of adventure with visits to numerous countries around the globe, returning from each with thousands of photographs that became a battle of the best between her photography and Dan's. Carolyn also volunteered at Children's Hospital, loving on and rocking babies. If you wonder if Carolyn loved Christmas, just look at the more than 75 Santas, three decorated trees and one "helluva" annual party. Carolyn inherited her mom's sense of humor and her love of doughnuts, and was known for her bourbon slush, pineapple casserole, Russian tea cakes, "hanky pankies" and most importantly, her devotion to her family and friends. August 30, 2021: St. Veronica Church (Mt. Caramel Tobasco Rd) 9:00 a.m. visitation, 10:00 a.m. Mass, and celebration of life following the Mass at the parish center.
