Carol Sue (nee Hackney) Skinner
Even in death, Carol was a survivor. After years of battling heart disease, kidney disease,
diabetes, and finally cancer, Carol passed away on January 27th, 2022, surrounded by friends
and family. Her body may have given up the fight, but her spirit never did.
Her final wish was to remain in her home in Loveland with her beloved husband of 53 years,
John Skinner, which she did until a couple days before her passing. In addition to her husband,
she is survived by her son and two daughters: Chris, Carrie, and Courtney. Loving daughter of
Mary Hackney and the late Raymond Hackney, she is also survived by her brother and sister,
Clifford and Cindy Hackney, four grandchildren, and many other close family members and
friends.
Carol was a dedicated nurse at Bethesda Hospital for nearly 50 years before retiring, spending
most of that time in the maternity ward. Some of her friends became her patients when they
had their babies. She was also a devoted member of Loveland Presbyterian Church, where she
worked as a Sunday school teacher for several years.
Please join us to remember her life on Thursday, February 3rd from 11 am to 1 pm at Tufts
Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Ave. in Loveland. Interment Rest Haven Memorial
Park. In lieu of flowers and to honor her lifetime caring for mothers and their babies, donations
may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
