Bobby Joe Prewitt was born in Blanchester, OH on September 22, 1946, the son of Nella and Henry Prewitt. Bob served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. He married Glenda Sue Freeman at 19 years of age, and had two children, four grandchildren (one great-grandchild on the way), and too many tools to count. He was a lifelong entrepreneur that owned and operated Prewitt Lumber and Prewitt Construction Company for over 55 years. Bob was also a Public Adjuster, helping hundreds of families and businesses when hurricanes devastated an area. Bob was a lifelong learner, curious on every front. His grandkids would tell their friends that if something was broken, they’d call their Papaw to come fix it. Bob spoke constantly of his pride in his family, loved his vintage cars, and possessed a brilliant mind for building and fixing anything when others could not.

Bob told his family daily, "Have I told you today that I love you? Well I do".

Bob traveled to Atlanta, GA, to watch his eldest grandson graduate from Life Chiropractic University. The following morning, Bob had breakfast , his favorite meal of the day, at the Waffle House with his son and one of his beloved grandsons while traveling to South Carolina. Bob also called his daughter that same day to sing Happy Birthday and tell her how much he loved her. Later that afternoon he arrived in Charleston to see his son's new boat for the first time. Beaming with pride and a twinkle in his eye, Bob smiled as he told his family that this was the best week of his life and that he felt SO LOVED.

Bobby Joe Prewitt passed away on Father’s Day, (the summer solstice), June 21st 2026. He was surrounded by his family holding his hands, telling him how loved he was, as he went home to be with our Lord.

Bob is survived by his son, Dr Robert Prewitt (Dr. Beverly Taylor-Prewitt), his daughter Angela Prewitt-Smithson (Joe Smithson), his grandsons Dr Robert Prewitt, Dr Nicholas Prewitt (Dr Cassandra Holm-Prewitt), Christopher Prewitt, and his granddaughter Uma Prewitt-Smithson. Bob is also survived by his three sisters: Ann Ross, Amy Taylor, and Claudia Bryant.
