IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beverly
Zureick
January 2, 1950 – October 9, 2023
Bev Zureick
January 2, 1950 - October 9, 2023
Fixer of problems. Helper to those troubled and in trouble. Doer of good deeds who wanted no credit for doing them. Artist in the kitchen. When hired as a letter carrier, the men at the Post Office looked at her 5 feet, 2 inches, 100-pound frame and told her "You'll never last!" They were right. She only lasted 30 years.
When Bev was 3, her mother died. Her father placed Bev and her sister, Patty, in foster care. He died when she was 17 which allowed her Aunt Larna and Uncle Gene Walton to rescue her from foster care.
Getting hired at the postal service allowed Bev to show how much she cared about people.
An elderly man on her route took great care of his lawn until he couldn't handle it anymore. Bev and her husband would go to his house, rake his leaves and cut his grass until his children were finally shamed enough to send their children to do his yardwork.
Another man was inconsolable after his Chocolate Labrador Retriever passed away. Bev found him a second Chocolate Labrador Retriever someone was looking to remove. Another customer was moving to South Africia and couldn't take his Golden Retriever, Bev found the dog a good home with her sister-in-law, Maureen.
Bev received two commendations from the Postal Service for coming to the aid of an elderly woman who had fallen and couldn't get to her phone or front door. Mail had started to collect in the mailbox and Bev suspected something was wrong.
A single mom had her electricity turned off when she couldn't pay her bill. She was desperate to get it turned back on. Bev paid her electric bill. It wasn't the last electric bill she ever paid.
Bev led a full life. After the age of 60 alone, she went ziplining in the Smokey Mountains and had a momma bear jump into her car. She went swimming with the dolphins on a Carnival Cruise, walked part of the Appalachian Trail, and made trips to Cozumel, Toronto, and New York City. She also read over a thousand books.
She remained positive throughout her ordeal and was grateful to those who helped her along the way. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Loving wife of Joe Zureick. Beloved mother of Brandon Geerken and Mandi Li. Cherished sister of Patricia Jenkins. Proud to be an aunt to Alex (Britney) Campbell and their children Kaylee and Skylar.
Family and friends will be received from 10-11 AM on Thursday, October 12 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140, where services will be held at 11 AM. Interment Rose Hill Cemetery, Deerfield Township.
