Bernard "Bud" Joseph McEvoy, 90, passed away May 20, 2017. He was a consummate family man leaving behind his wife of 65 years, Helen McEvoy (nee Hummel); his children Dan (Dede) McEvoy; Marilyn (Todd) Sandell; James McEvoy; Janet (Sandy) Suckling; Mark (Louise) McEvoy; Kay McEvoy; and Karla (Tom) Hibarger; eight grandchildren: Jonathan McEvoy; Andrew (Laura) McEvoy; Nathan Sandell; Niels McEvoy; Emma McEvoy; Will McEvoy; Wyatt McEvoy; and Jake Hibarger; and two great-grandchildren, Margaret and George McEvoy.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Charles, and daughter-in-law, Marlies Vandervelde.
Bud enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and he proudly served in the Pacific during World War II. He had a 30 year career with Western Southern Life Insurance where he rose through the ranks becoming a Vice President by the time he retired.
Bud stayed active. He golfed whenever he could. He loved to travel and loved doing projects around the house. He not only cared for his home, but for any of his children and neighbors in need. He was quick to help paint, build something, or do lawn and garden work.
He had a deep love for the American West and once he retired, he drove west every year to golf during the winter months.
Bud was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus and was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1985.
When he got sick, his only request was to spend time with his family and friends. He will be missed.
Visitation will take place from 11 AM to 12 PM on Friday, May 26, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church 8815 E. Kemper Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45249, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM.
