Obituary

Arthur R. Hopkins of Cincinnati. Beloved husband of over 64 years to the late Mary Ann (nee Frank) Hopkins. Devoted father of Sue (Mark) Noe, Kate (BA) Beauchamp, Arthur S. Hopkins, Daniel Hopkins, Beth (Tim) Rogers, Lisa Hopkins, Mark (Connie) Hopkins, Matt (Eileen) Hopkins and Jennifer Hopkins. Loving grandfather of 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 step great grandchildren. Passed away August 4, 2022 at the age of 90. Art lived in Cincinnati all of his 90 years. He worked at GE for a short time, then Loveland Pet Products for many years. He then became a Sales Rep for pet supplies and his last job was as National Sales Rep for All-Glass Aquarium. Art was an avid golfer and played at many golf courses such as Pebble Beach (a milestone for him), Whistling Straights, local courses and several in Naples, FL for his annual golf outing with Jan, Gerry and Tim. Art was an amateur photographer who loved to travel taking photos along the way from Ohio to Florida to the West Coast. He loved nature and has great pictures of birds, reptiles (especially turtles) and other animals as well as breathtaking views from National parks and other spectacular Vistas. A trip to the Galapagos Islands with his close friends Jerry and Kathy was a dream come true for him! Art's hobbies included raising and showing fish at Tropical Fish shows where he won many awards for his beautiful guppies. Later he served as a National Judge for these shows and on the board of PIDA (Pet Industry Distributor Association) for many years. He loved collecting interesting rocks, especially perfectly round ones and Geodes. He would display some at home and others in aquariums and outside in his garden. During the last few months Art loved to sit on the sun porch watching the birds, chipmunks, bunnies and squirrels come to the garden and feeders. Art has loved trains since he was a youngster. He has an extensive collection of 0 gauge model trains and a great train layout. He started a train group The "Hi Railers Unlimited" who would meet weekly for lunch and share train ideas. They took many trips to train shows as well. Art will be dearly missed by all of his children, grandchildren and his many friends. Family and friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, August 9 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140.
