Obituary

It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Annette Hively announces her peaceful passing on October 18, 2025, at the age of seventy-one.

Born on February 1, 1954, in Independence, Missouri, Annette was the beloved daughter of the late Jimmy and Doris Diskin. Her lifelong love story with her husband, Jeff Hively, began in the third grade at Hutton Elementary in Chanute, Kansas. High school sweethearts, they married on June 10, 1972, just two weeks after graduation, beginning a 53-year journey marked by enduring love and mutual support.

Annette was the heart of her family, providing warmth, strength, and stability through every chapter of life. As Jeff's career took them across the country, she created a nurturing home while raising two sons, Justin (born 1979) and Zachary (born 1980), and working as a bookkeeper. Later in life, her commitment to personal growth led her to the University of Cincinnati, where she pursued a Finance degree, a significant and inspiring journey she undertook alongside her sons.

Annette then focused her considerable energy on philanthropic efforts in Wilmington, Delaware. For over a decade, she served as a member of the Junior League and Chairperson of the gift shops at Christiana Hospital, where her dedication to the hospital's mission and influence in the community led to raising more than $100,000 annually for the Children's Hospital.

Known affectionately as "Mamma Hively," Annette was treasured for her warmth, her ability to listen without judgment, and her ability to layer in her quick wit when needed. Her life reflected compassion, resilience, and selflessness. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a powerful example of a life lived in service to others.

Annette is survived by her loving husband Jeff Hively; sons Justin (Michele) and Zachary (Sarah); grandchildren Ella, Mazzei, Finley, and James Dean (JD), Hendrix Stires; and sisters Anita Savedra, Deana Bruce, and Donna Smith.

She will be missed beyond measure and remembered always. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Annette's memory to the American Cancer Association or the Junior Board at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.

Annette's spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she created. Her love was a gift, and we are forever grateful.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 24 from 3-4 PM in the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Ave., Loveland, where funeral services will be held at 4 PM.
