Anna Kaminski (Kozlowski), 89, passed away on August 3, 2014. Anna was born in Warsaw, Poland and grew up on a farm in eastern Poland, with her parents and two brothers. During World War II, she and her family escaped from advancing Soviet troops, back through the German lines, to Warsaw. Anna was involved in the Polish Underground and took part in the Warsaw Uprising, escaping through the sewer lines from one part of the city to another, as the Germans advanced through the city. She was wounded during this time and carried a scar under her lip from a German grenade fragment. She met her husband Andrzej in Germany and they were married in 1947. Their son Leszek was born in London and they emigrated to Detroit, Michigan in 1952. Their son Richard was born in Detroit and they were active in the local Polish community and scouting. Anna was a passionate gardener who loved her family and friends and built a life that reflected her love of others and her kind, gentle nature. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother who was preceded in death by her husband Andrzej and son, Leszek and both of her brothers, Stanislaw and Tadeusz. She leaves behind her son Richard (Lisa) and Leszek's wife Mary Jo, grandchildren: Michael (Jill), Brian (Jordan), Kristin (Walt) Sweeney, Andy and Tim and was the proud Prababcia of Wally. She also leaves behind her dear sister-in-law Danuta Kozlowski, many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 16 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Sterling Heights, Michigan at 10:30 AM. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 - 10:30 at the Church. Lunch will be served immediately following at the Church.
