Obituary

Alfredo "Fred" G. Panetta, 88, Pleasant Plain, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Alene (nee Scalf) Panetta; loving father of Linda (Jim) Hurst, Kim Pelosi, and Pam (Doug) Cales; proud grandfather of Jason Hurst, LeAnne Young, Joe Pelosi, David Pelosi, Katie Messer, and Matthew Cales; great-grandfather of Waylon, Wyatt, Whitley Ella, Cameron, Jenna, Jayden, Lucas, Evelyn, and Easton; dear brother of Christine Taylor. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Flora Panetta, sister Lena Anderson, brother Lou Panetta and son-in-law, Dan Pelosi. Fred was a long-time resident of the Veteran's Home in Georgetown, Ohio. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Veteran's Home for taking such good care of him. They were like a part of his family. Fred was a Veteran of the United States Air Force during the time of the Korean War. Fred and Alene owned and operated Panetta Excavating for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Blanchester, Ohio and the V.F.W. in Morrow, Ohio. He was a firefighter with the Harlan Township Fire Department for 23 years. Fred served as a Trustee for Harlan Township in Warren county. He also served on the Western Water Company Board of Trustees. Fred built a very impressive "Pig Roaster" later in life and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. No services will be held.
