Alexander "Al" McPhee, beloved Godfather, engineer, wood-craftsman, baker, friend, history buff, avid reader and fan of Hallmark movies, passed away on September 25th, 2018 at the age of 70. Born on August 2nd, 1948, Al was a native of Long Island, NY, but called Cincinnati home for more than three decades. He graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton before serving honorably in the US Army as a Chemical Corps officer. Upon leaving military service, Al earned his Masters degree from Purdue University. He worked as an engineer for Procter & Gamble for more than 20 years. Al was a devoted Godfather to Erin Mahan and never missed an opportunity to spend time with her. Side-by-side they spent endless hours baking fine desserts, making complex Lego creations and singing Man of La Mancha. Together they saw many seasons of The Childrens Theatre productions followed by an abundance of shows at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Al was most happy when he was spending time with Erin. With pride and utmost joy, he watched her shows at Clifton Performance Theatre and later at Mount Notre Dame High School. Al will be greatly missed by those who knew him as a friend. Friends are welcome to gather on Saturday, October 6th from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Parish, 8939 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cincinnati Zoo where Al volunteered for many years.
