Rev. Mary Elizabeth Cochran 97 of Wilmington, OH, formerly of Westboro, OH passed away on Saturday August 24, 2013.
She was born June 29, 1916 in Westboro, OH, a daughter of Kirby E. and Elva J. (nee Wilson) Cochran.
She was a retired Teacher and Guidance Counselor from Little Miami Schools after 35 years of service, a Recorded Quaker Minister since 1948 and Pastor of Westboro Friends Church for 52 years. She had a Bachelor of Theology from Indiana Wesleyan, formerly Marion College in 1942, Bachelor of Arts from Wilmington College in 1947, and a Master of Education from Miami University Oxford in 1969. She was involved with Clinton Co. Teacher Assoc., Twig #2 Clinton Memorial Hospital Guild, Wayne Twp. W.C.T.U., Lilliput Day Care Board of Directors, Volunteer at Clinton Co. Hospice, Member of Wilmington Yearly Meeting, spent many years coordinating vacation bible school at the Jefferson School for two weeks each summer and received the award of outstanding women of Clinton Co., in 2005.
She is survived by her brother Richard and 10 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Calvin Cochran, Everett Cochran, Raymond Cochran, William Cochran, Gladys Hunt, a niece Doris Hunt and a nephew James Cochran.
Friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Thursday August 29, 2013 at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. Blanchester, OH 45107 where services will be held at 11 AM on Friday August 30, 2013 with Rev. Nancy McCormick officiating.
Interment Westboro Cemetery, Jefferson Twp., OH. Donations can be made to Chester Friends Church, 3451 Gurneyville, Rd. Wilmington, OH 45177 in her memory.
