Preceded in death by Bart, Ann leaves eight children—Stephen Cooper (Judy) of North Ridgeville, OH; Maria Barnes (James Kevin) of Fairfax, VA; Philip Cooper (Wendy) of Northampton, MA; John Christopher Cooper (Rebecca) of Phoenix, AZ; Catharine Cooper Engelman (Donald) of Fresno, CA; JoAnn Cooper of Washington, DC; David Cooper (Julie) of Maineville, OH; Susan Greeley (Robert) of Westfield, NJ; and 17 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen M. Varble and his family, of Clarksville, IN.

The daughter of Harry Cleveland and Daisy Belle Kehoe Varble, she was born in Jeffersonville, IN on April 15, 1934. At the age of 10, she and her family moved to Lebanon, KY, when her father became caretaker of the Lebanon National Cemetery. After graduating from high school in 1952, she spent a year at Texas College for Women in Denton, TX. Ann received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Ursuline College (Bellarmine University) in Louisville, KY in 1956. Married on June 23, 1956 to Francis Bartley “Bart” Cooper, of Youngstown, OH, she and her family lived in Boardman, OH; Morristown, NJ; Luzerne, Switzerland; Luxembourg Ville, Luxembourg; Canfield, OH; and Sao Paulo, Brazil before returning permanently to Ohio in 1974. As a resident of Canfield and a parishioner at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Ann was an active member of the altar guild and sang in the choir for many years. While living in Canfield, she became a member of the Catholic Collegiate Association, Mignonette Garden Club and Youngstown Symphony Society. A realtor for 26 years with various Coldwell Banker offices, she retired in 2004 when she and her husband relocated to Maineville, OH.
